california 2025

Wildfires across the Los Angeles area are out of control and officials are saying this could be the most destructive fire in California's history. Entire communities have been burned down and tens of thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate. Many families had to leave their belongings behind and have no idea when they will be able to return. Despite the efforts of emergency services, many of the fires remain uncontained, which are being worsened by the lack of rain in the forecast.

As the fires throughout LA continue to spread, the need for more firefighting apparatus is becoming increasingly apparent. Fire crews are struggling to contain the flames and international assistance has been requested. GlobalFire is responding.

GlobalFire has activated and is supporting local fire departments who are working to contain the blazes. Building off of the experience gained working with Canadian and Bolivian fires, GlobalFire is providing fire skids to departments in the LA area to bolster their capacity.

Each of these fire skids gives the ability for a department to turn a pick-up truck or utility vehicle into a small fire truck. Each skid is equipped with a 1,000-litre holding tank which can be filled with water. The units also have a pump, and hoses attached. The pump is able to create the high-pressure water stream required for fighting fires. These units are self-contained and include all the components required so that the departments can hit the ground running and get them operational immediately.

These units can be moved into areas that might be inaccessible to full sized fire trucks, stopping the progression of a fire before it moves to even more remote areas.

GlobalFire has delivered 4 fire skids in Los Angeles so far. These units are being used to attack the Eaton Fire. There is still a great need on the ground for more equipment to increase the capacity of local departments to respond. The fire skids can be used to help divert and prevent fires from spreading, allowing large apparatus to be saved for defending larger infrastructure.

GlobalFire has a stockpile of fire skids that are ready to move into the region. We are also preparing to make equipment to order based on local needs. This more custom equipment may include smaller units that can fit onto a UTV or larger trailer mounted units.
